Justin Bieber's Baby Mama Song Joins List Of Pop Revenge Tracks

Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Pink and Justin Timberlake also have famous retribution tracks.
By Gil Kaufman

<P>When it comes to pop star, revenge is often a dish best served ... with a beat. <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> recently told a gathering of British journalists that he's <a href="/news/articles/1683817/justin-bieber-believe-paternity-scandal-song.jhtml">written a song</a>&#8232; for his upcoming <I>Believe</I> album about Mariah Yeater, the woman who claimed that she was carrying the teen star's baby. </P><P> </P><P>We haven't heard any of the lyrics yet, but if Bieber's tune is anything like classic retribution tracks by the likes of Pink, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna and Michael Jackson, the <I>other</I> Mariah probably isn't going to be excited about the shout-out. </P><P> </P><P><center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:26708/cp~vid%3D26708%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A726708" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></center> </P><P> </P><P>Some other great vengeance songs: </P><P> </P><P>In the wake of her assault by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml"><B>Rihanna</B></a> has jumped on-and-off the revenge wagon over the past few years, always keeping things vague, but biting. In her song, <a href="/news/articles/1664974/rihanna-man-down-video-controversy.jhtml">"Man Down"</a>,&#8232; and the accompanying video, a vengeful Rihanna shoots down her assailant after he sexually assaults her, singing, "What started out as a simple altercation/ Turned into a real sticky situation." </P><P> </P><P><B>Carrie Underwood</B> had payback on her mind too in her breakout hit, "Before He Cheats," in which she hits out at an unidentified philanderer by singing, "I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped-up four-wheel drive/ Carved my name into his leather seats. I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights/ Slashed a hole in all four tires." <B>Pink</B> was not so delicate in her hit "So What," in which she snarled, "And I don't need you/ And guess what/ I'm having more fun/ And now that we're done/ I'm gonna show you tonight." That, of course, was written before she reunited with her target, ex- and now-current husband Carey Hart. </P><P> </P><P>Speaking of exes, <B>Kid Rock</B> was much less delicate in "Half Your Age," which is a clear slag of ex-wife pin-up Pamela Anderson, in which he informs the former "Baywatch" babe that, "I found someone new who treats me better/ She don't bitch about things we ain't got/ When I sing this tune it don't upset her/ She's half your age and twice as hot." </P><P> </P><P><B>Justin Timberlake</B> wasn't as explicit, but he definitely left little doubt that he was busted up over his split with <B>Britney Spears</B> when he wrote the scathing, "Cry Me a River," which features the classic lines, "Your bridges were burned, and now it's your turn/ To cry me a river." Though you never really see her out on a date with anyone, <B>Kelly Clarkson</B> has more romantic drama than most pop stars, which she's chronicled in a series of scathing tunes, including "Low," "Never Again" and "Wash, Rinse, Repeat," which breaks new ground by not going after a lover, but a <a href="/news/articles/1638667/is-kelly-clarkson-dissing-ryan-tedder-in-new-leaked-song.jhtml">songwriter who did her wrong</a>&#8232;. </P><P> </P><P>The ladies don't have a lockdown on songs seeking payback, but two of the all-time greats are <B>Carly Simon</B>'s biting "You're So Vain," which has kept listeners guessing for decades about the subject of the line, "You're so vain/ I bet you think this song is about you." The other is <B>Alanis Morissette</B>'s "You Oughta Know," which strikes out bitterly at an ex (allegedly "Full House" actor Dave Coulier) with the lines, "I'm here to remind you/ Of the mess you left when you went away/ It's not fair to deny me/ Of the cross I bear that you gave to me." <B>Taylor Swift</B> has also made a career out of (almost) naming names, <a href="/news/articles/1650325/is-taylor-swifts-dear-john-about-john-mayer.jhtml">writing derisive songs about her former loves</a>&#8232; and then sometimes letting it slip in interviews who she was aiming at. </P><P> </P><P>And then there's <B>Michael Jackson</B>'s "Billie Jean," a sparkling pop tune so catchy it almost makes you forget that he's dissing the groupies who'd hounded him for years during his time in the Jackson 5. Though he later said there wasn't a real Billie Jean, the song's refrain is a model for getting the last word with the lines, "Billie Jean is not my lover/ She's just a girl who claims that I am the one/ But the kid is not my son." </P><P> </P><P><I>What's your favorite pop revenge song? Let us know in comments below.</I></p>

Gmelius Promises To Improve the Look and Feel Of Your Gmail Inbox

gmelius_logoGoogle started rolling out its new user interface for Gmail late last year. Not everybody is in love with it, of course, so it doesn't come as a surprise that a little cottage industry of Gmail enhancement tools has cropped up over the last few months. Google will soon migrate even those users who have, until now, resisted this change to the new version. Even if you hate the new Gmail design, though, you can reclaim some of your sanity - and screen estate - with a browser extension like Gmelius, which came out of beta today. Among the most useful features that Gmelius offers are the ability to customize Gmail's navigation icons to show both text and icons, for example, as well as tools to remove Google's people widget and Google chat from your inbox. Gmelius is available for Chrome, Firefox and Opera.

Google Drive vs. the competition: pricing plans and perks, compared

google drive

Sometimes a table says a thousand words. Now that Google has finally announced its cloud service, Google Drive, we're sure more than a few of you are crunching the numbers in your head in an attempt to figure which is the best deal. Far be it for us to tell you which service to use when we've barely had a chance to poke around Drive, but for now, better if we lay out those gigabytes and dollars in number form, rather than squeeze them into a crowded paragraph, don'tcha think? Follow past the break for a brief breakdown of what you'll get from Google, along with Dropbox, Microsoft SkyDrive and iCloud.

'Think Like A Man': How It Knocked 'Hunger Games' Off Its Throne

Box-office expert explains just how significant the flick's $33 million debut really is.

The success of "Think Like a Man" shouldn't surprise anyone. For starters, it's based on a best-selling self-help book by Steve Harvey, and many box-office experts had predicted that it would finally be the movie to knock "The Hunger Games" out of its #1 spot.

But it was unclear just how big "Think Like a Man" would be. The film grossed $33 million over the weekend and according to Box Office Mojo's weekend wrap-up, "the movie had an 'A' CinemaScore, which went up to an 'A+' among men and those under the age of 25."

As Vulture put it, "It's hard to overstate the enormity of the 'TLAM' victory this past weekend." $33 million may not sound like a lot when compared to the opening weeks of "The Hunger Games" and its box-office tear, but there are two things to consider when looking at that number: competition and screens.

"Think Like a Man" had two worthy opponents to defeat on its way to box-office glory. First, there was the reigning champion, "The Hunger Games." Even in its fifth week, the YA adaptation still showed signs of life, crossing the $350 million mark this weekend. Then, there was "The Lucky One,' which boasted the Nicholas Sparks brand name and an adult role from teen heartthrob Zac Efron. On paper, these two could have proved too much for the rom-com, especially when you consider the second factor.

The large haul for "Think Like a Man" is so much more impressive when you compare the number of screens each film played on. "The Hunger Games," even in its fifth weekend, was still playing on 3,752 screens, almost twice as many as "Think Like a Man," and yet the latter did more than two times the business. Just as telling, "The Lucky One" debuted on 1,000 more screens than "Think Like a Man," yet made more than $10 million less.

BoxOffice.com editor Phil Contrino said that the success was due in large part to the community the film was aimed at. "There aren't many films that are made specifically for African-American audiences, and when it a good one comes out, that community gets behind it in a big way," he said.

Check out everything we've got on "Think Like a Man."

Justin Bieber Posts Message To His Paternity Accuser

Bieber sends a Borat-themed tweet to the California woman who accused him of fathering her child.
By Jocelyn Vena

Justin Bieber went on a bit of a Twitter spree over the weekend, telling his millions of followers that it was time for a "RANDOMTWITTERHOUR."

While many of his tweets relayed innocuous thoughts on topics like Chuck Norris' pajamas, his feelings about the content of fruit salad and how his track "Boyfriend" is really about the migration of birds, there was one tweet in particular that stands out.

At the end of his "Random Twitter Hour," Bieber had this message for Mariah Yeater, the California woman who accused Bieber in late 2011 of being her baby's father. "And now #RANDOMTWITTERHOUR has come to an end....last one....," he wrote. "Dear mariah yeeter [sic]...we have never met...so from the heart i just wanted to say..."

He then tweeted to an audio link from the 2006 film "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan," in which Borat says, "You will never get this, you will never get it, la la la la la la. He behind his cage. He cries, he cries and everybody laughs. She goes, 'You never get this.' But one time he break cage and he 'get this' and then we all laugh. High five!"

Bieber wasn't lying about his tweets being random as there hasn't been any news on the Yeater/paternity front since late November when Yeater promised to submit her son for a paternity test, despite the paternity suit having been dropped. The tweet does stay on message with Bieber's denial that he had anything to do with Yeater or her baby.

The pop singer maintained his position on the paternity accusation during the entire process, even taking his own DNA test to prove that he wasn't the baby's father. "As far as the whole baby situation, it's unfortunate that it had to happen like that," he said in an interview at the height of the allegations. "People make false accusations, but things happen in this industry, and you have to keep your head high and be positive."

Although the tabloid media has been obsessing over Megan Fox for years — ever since she made her blockbuster debut in the 2007 moneymaker "Transformers" — they'll have a whole new reason to pay close attention to the star for the next few months: The 25-year-old is reportedly pregnant with her first child.

According to E! Online, Fox is expecting a bundle of joy with husband Brian Austin Green. The new addition to their family will be the second child for Green, who also has a 10-year-old son, Kassius, with ex Vanessa Marcil.

MTV News reached out to Fox's reps for comment but have yet to receive confirmation.

The news might not come as a surprise to the folks over at Star magazine, who initially broke the story about Fox's pregnancy in late March via a source close to the couple. "They just found out and are incredibly excited," a source told Star at the time. "Megan has become a great stepmom, and Brian knows she'll be wonderful with the baby."

The "Friends With Kids" star has also stated publicly that she is eager to become a mother. "I want at least two, probably three kids," the actress said in a recent interview with Cosmopolitan magazine. "I've always been maternal."

Fox and Green met while filming the sitcom "Hope and Faith" back in 2004 and the pair were married in Hawaii in June 2010. The actress has said their relationship works because they are best friends. "I feel like I'm with my best friend," she told MTV News about Green. "I've been with him for so long, so it feels natural and comfortable."

Share your well-wishes for the couple in the comments!

Finally A Redesign!? Ugly Craigslist Hiring UI Designer To Become ?Faster, Friendlier And Easier?

Craigslist Under ConstructionRecognizable, fast-loading, but outdated as hell website seeks Senior UI / Usability / Front End Engineer. Love it or hate it, Craigslist's design could provide a better experience, and apparently Craig thinks so too, as this weekend the site posted a job opening for someone to make it "faster, friendlier, and easier". It's hoping for a brave designer who can "develop new products and features that will have CL users swooning", "optimize internal team tools", and who has mobile app design and platform support skills. There's plenty of tweaks we'd appreciate like more consistent navigation controls and better use of whitespace. But don't expect Craigslist to ditch its?famously minimal facade that's helped it climb to 50 million classified postings and 30 billion page views a month.

Yes, the Sprint Galaxy Nexus is a Nexus; no, you can't build it from AOSP

Sprint Galaxy Nexus

With the Sprint Galaxy Nexus finally seeing its release today, it's worth a reminder of where, exactly, it stands in the world of Nexus and the Android Open Source Project. And Google's Jean-Baptiste Queru has done exactly that this weekend.

The short version is that, no, you can't compile a pure AOSP build for the Sprint Galaxy Nexus directly from Google. That's because there are licensing issues with some files for CDMA devices that keeps the code from being released under AOSP. And because compiling without those files would leave you with a phone that doesn't quite work (if data and voice are important features, anyway), it remains not quite as open-source as GSM Nexus devices. That's just the way it is.

This isn't new, of course. It's what got folks all sorts of frustrated earlier this year when Google changed up the AOSP documentation and everyone went off half-cocked about whether Verizon's Galaxy Nexus was a real Nexus, or whether Google still supported CDMA devices or whatever.

To recap: Yes, the Sprint Galaxy Nexus is a "Nexus." Yes, it's supported by Google. Yes, it'll likely get newer versions of Android more quickly than other devices. (And maybe even more quickly than GSM versions.) Is it something to stay up nights worrying about? Nope.

Samsung Canada launches Cineplex Store app, offers paid movies on 'select' Smart devices

Image

Folks in Canada using Samsung's Smart lineup of home theater equipment have a new app to be excited about, thanks in part to Cineplex Entertainment. The two companies have teamed up for a video-on-demand app, dubbed Cineplex Store, which will allow owners of "select models of Samsung's Smart TVs, Blu-ray players and home theater systems" to purchase or rent videos from the comfort of their couches. Pricing is set from about three to five bucks for 48-hour unlimited play rentals (from the time you hit play within a 30-day period), while buying titles outright will cost ya between $10 and $20 -- all without any pesky contracts. Notably, for those prices you'll also be able to store your content in a "digital locker" and rack up Scene points with Cineplex. While it appears that there's nary mention of which Smart devices are compatible, you can hit up the source link below and the press release after break for more details.
